At a recent ZOOM meeting of Club Déise, Waterford G.A.A Supporters Club, a discussion paper outlining requests received for funding was presented. The Chairman, Tom Corcoran, informed the committee of the changing demands and the real challenges that are evident today notwithstanding the COVID pandemic. In the absence of field activities however, there is much preparation in hand in the county to support and build on achievements to date. He informed the meeting that there were three requests for funding received of late.
Liam Cahill, the senior hurling manager, outlined his plans and ongoing preparations. He emphasised the requirements necessary to achieve the nutritional needs of the players as well as the measures needed in strength and conditioning of players, at county level in today’s environment. The use of technology in games is ever on the increase and is constantly upgrading. The manager recognises this and requested support from Club Déise accordingly.
Jason Ryan and Eoin Morrissey made a presentation to the members on the work that is in hand in relation to the U14 to U17 age group, in both hurling and football. They unveiled an ambitious plan covering all aspects of the project. It was agreed by all that this work was essential if county teams are to perform at the highest level in the future. A questions and answer session followed which afforded members an opportunity to acquaint themselves with the details of the project.
Derek Lyons, Waterford Senior Camogie, requested funding for team and certain costs relating to training activities two nights per month.
Finally, after some discussion and clarification, the meeting decided to support all three requests.
A home exercise training kit had earlier been provided to assist the senior hurling panel train at home .
The Chairman expressed his appreciation to the members of the committee and especially to the many supporters of Club Déise, for their help, contributions and hard work in the interests of Waterford G.A.A.

End of statement.
